Chris Tomlin Story

Chris Tomlin grew up as a religious young man in Texas, and continued to hold his faith in his heart. He was a worship leader and youth speaker in various church events. He shared his religious experiences by writing songs with a singular goal, to bring people closer to God.

"Building a career is just fine," he said, "but nothing compares to building bridges through music that lead to hope, healing and higher ground." He first nationally released his solo project, "The Noise We Make", in 2001, but even before that, he has dropped three albums.

"I want to write songs that people sing to God. There's nothing wrong with a three-minute pop song, but I want these songs to be special to the church. There's more of a laser focus on that than ever," he explained the faithful path he's taking.

During his years-long career, Chris was very productive in making albums within one or two years, never more than that. He got his first big break in 2004 when his album "Arriving" was certified Platinum. It charted at No. 6 on Billboard Top Christian Albums and No. 39 on Hot 200.

Two years later, he rose higher to No. 1 on the Christian Albums chart and to No. 15 on all-genre album chart with "See in the Morning". The Gold-certified CD was followed by two more chart-busting efforts "Hello Love" (2008) and "Glory in the Highest: Christmas Songs of Worship" (2009).

A year after marrying Lauren Bricken, Chris once again ruled Christian Albums chart in 2011 with "And If Out God Is for Us..." and peaked at No. 17 on Hot 200. In the same years, he tasted a double glory as he reigned Billboard Hot Christian Songs with its single "I Lift My Hands". He also celebrated the birth of his daughter, Ashlyn Alexandra Tomlin.

He took a break in 2011 in releasing a new album, but managed to offer a compilation CD carrying his most "Essential Collection." After a long hard works, he finally got recognized at the Grammy Awards in 2012 for making the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

He's preparing to follow up his Grammy win with another critically-acclaimed album "Burning Lights". He said, "I think what we try to do is keep the songs simple. Not try to overdo anything or overproduce anything but keep the songs that need to have some energy to them really fun and keep some of the beauty as well."

Who is worthy kanino? Nothing nd no one. When we are in the church worshipping Him ano ba yung iniisip natin? Before His throne we are nothing. Unclean. Sinful. Si Isaiah nga eh nakita niya si God ngunit sobrang hiya siya because of the Greatness of God. No one is worthy that's why we most give all the honor and praise to Him. He is worthy of our praise. Praise Him! Before His throne needs to have a pure and clean heart.

Brian Littrell is known for making two types of music: pop hits with the Backstreet Boys and inspirational tunes as a Christian music artist.

 

Born on February 20, 1975, in Lexington, Kentucky, Brian Littrell joined the Backstreet Boys, one of the biggest pop groups ever to hit the charts, at age 18. The popular boy-band singer has also become a successful Christian music artist. Littrell is now married and a dad, and after overcoming heart health issues and surgery, runs a foundation to help families with kids facing heart-related medical conditions.

On February 20, 1975, in Lexington, Kentucky, Harold Baker Littrell II and his wife Jackie added another baby boy to their family, Brian Thomas Littrell. Born with a congenital heart problem, their younger son almost died from an infection because of his weakened heart at age 5. He found solace from his childhood medical challenges through faith and singing, combining both in the church choir. Soon, Littrell was performing in school plays and musicals, as well as weddings. He intended to attend Cincinnati Bible College on a full scholarship and become a music minister. But life had other plans.

In April of 1993, the high school student was unexpectedly invited to audition for a new pop group, the Backstreet Boys, by his cousin Kevin Richardson. The next day he was selected as the quintet's final member alongside Richardson, Nick Carter, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough. After making their mark in Europe, the band unveiled their 1997 debut album stateside. It sold 13 million copies with highlights like "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" and "As Long as You Love Me."

In between churning out more hits and putting on concerts, Littrell, the conservative, more straitlaced Backstreet Boys member, found time in the studio for the music he longed to create. In 2006, he released his first Christian-music album, Welcome Home. It reached No. 3 on the Christian album chart, No. 1 on the U.S. Christian Inspirational chart and No. 74 on the Billboard 200 chart. Later, Littrell won two Gospel Musical Association (GMA) Dove Awards for Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year in 2006 and 2008. He also took home a GMA Dove Award for Special Event Album of the Year in 2008.

Littrell's crooning career led him not only to fame but to his future wife too. While shooting the "As Long As You Love Me" music video in 1997, he met model/accessories designer Leighanne Wallace, an extra on set. On September 2, 2002, they wed. Two years later they had son Baylee. The grateful Littrell almost never made it to fatherhood: In 1997, he underwent open-heart surgery to fix a hole in his heart, and doctors found a hidden second one. Littrell said it was a miracle that he survived. His 7-year-old son endured his own scare, overcoming Kawasaki disease (an inflammation of the blood vessels) in 2008. Grateful for his family's health, the pop star now runs Brian Littrell's Healthy Heart Club for Kids, providing information and support to families with children contending with heart conditions.

Brother and sister

Scripture: Matthew 12:46-50

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.

We've been to many places and apparently attended different churches. We observed and fellowship with them. We were welcomed and they treated us like a sister, sister in Christ. "For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother," all believers are our family. We are one. Ano ba dapat yung treatment natin sa kanila? Love, respect. Yun ang napapansin nating kulang sa ibang church that we attended. Hindi magkaka kilala and no pakialam at all. It's not what God wants. Let's chat after every service, kumustahan or have a date with them. Our brothers and sister need that. It's doing the will of the Father.

Good Gifts

Scripture: Matthew 7:7-12

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will Your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!
- Matthew 7:11

Marami na tayong natanggap na gifts simula pagkabata. Mapa material, emotional or spiritual man ito. We thank God for that. Marami din tayong hiniling at pinag pray sa Kanya na binigay Niya, maraming hindi. The world offer many things, opportunities to us. Aren't you tempted to grab it? In the same way good gifts din yun because it'll lead you to success. But is it God's will? Marami na tayong mga opportunities na pinalagpas which we think will lead us to success but it isn't God's will.

Everything we have right now, consider it good gifts from our Father above. He knows what's best for us and looking forward each day for more of His grace. Some of it we never ask but He gave it, His good pleasing and perfect will.

The Alabaster Jar

Scripture: Matthew 26:6-13

The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.

What a waste Jesus' disciples said. Sayang yung perfume pinanghugas lang ng paa. Ang mahal kaya di ba? Pero sabi ni Jesus as I will paraphrase it, "Ang pera nahahanap lang pero yung oras, tithes ay meron at nakalaan na para lang sa Akin." Ano ba yung pinakamahal na gamit natin? Yung parang alabaster natin na parang sayang kung ibibigay natin kay God. It's not a waste. Walang sayang 'pag ibigay natin kay God. He'll be delighted whatever it is dahil galing sa ating puso..

What's your alabaster? What can you give to God?

Obeying the Lord

Scripture: 1 Samuel 15:10-23

.. "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice.
- 1 Samuel 15:22

Obedience is one of the vital points of following Christ. To be obedient means to be willing enough to sacrifice. That's why obedience is better than sacrifice. Sacrifice isn't essential without the heart, without obeying what's inside. God is not after our sacrifice/offering how big, wonderful or expensive it is. He's after our hearts on the purpose why we do it.

Obeying God isn't an easy path because the devil will always find its way to devour us. But His grace is always there. Kung nasa point ka ng sacrifice and obeying, choose to obey. Don't sacrifice to the things that aren't eternal, don't compromise God for temporary possessions. It's better to obey because He knows what's best.

My story

It's was a roller coaster year for me. Twist and turns. But, I thank God for making every steps seem easy for me. Living alone without the supervision from my parents, having all the freedom to do anything I want in my life. I once was lost but God gave me someone and also gave me a family wherein made me more closer to Him. This family brought and encourage me to go to church with them. Praising God and give thanks for every little things that I have in my life now. I choose to live my old life and slowly following Him. God save me, I know He do all these things for me to make me realize that somehow I forgot that He exist. God knows best what we need. He never leaves us unattended. He never forsake us. I start to join bible study. Do some services in church and I feel blessed. I found my true family in them. Thank you Lord for erasing all the hatred and making my 2014 a year where I found peace in You. Amen!

Hold Fast to the Lord

But all of you who held fast to the Lord your God are still alive today.

When was the last time naramdaman mo you almost die physically, emotionally and spiritually? It's like breathtaking experience. Sa panahon ni Moses ay binigay ni God ang 10 Commandments. Actually ang raming utos ni God. But He summed up to 10 na lang na parang summary. You should follow that rules and never add or subtract it kasi sabi pa sa Revelation if you'll add to the commandments or Word of God madadagdagan yung parusa sa 'yo at kung mag subtract naman ay tatanggalin ang name mo sa book of Life.

What are we doing for God? How do we hold in His promises or commandments? The reason why we're still here and alive because we hold fast to Him. Sa lahat ng pinagdaanan natin ay andyan si God gumagabay sa atin. Surely our lives will be more wonderful. We will live on His promises and never lie about it.

Ravi Zacharias

Born in India in the 1940s, Ravi’s religious upbringing was an eclectic blend of both spirituality and superstition. Although his parents were nominally Christian, they did not have a personal faith in Christ and their routine involved attending the temple during festive occasions as well as consulting palmists from time to time.

As he grew up, Ravi felt a growing sense of emptiness in his life, which culminated in an attempt to take his own life at the age of 17. Ravi was fortunate to survive and as he slowly recovered in hospital, he experienced a radical transformation that would dramatically alter the course of his life. As his mother read to him from John’s gospel he was stunned by the words: ‘Because I live you also will live’. After meditating over these words he decided to commit his life to Christ and soon became gripped by a new-found hunger to discover the truth – a desire that would sustain him throughout his life. He felt a burning need to learn more about God and, when he returned to full health, he began to immerse himself in studying the gospel.

His family emigrated to Canada in 1966 and, after attending Bible College, Ravi became an itinerant preacher. Evangelism was Ravi’s driving passion and as he spoke in many different settings, he began to realise the desperate need for a ministry that was able to proclaim the gospel effectively in a cynical world. In particular, he desired to reach the happy thinking sceptic and to help them address their objections about Christianity so that they could see the cross, clearly and unhindered. Trusting God

Scripture: Psalm 20:7

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Trust is a common word. Kahit saan ginagamit itong title: fund, work even sa condom meron. It is everywhere but hard to apply in our lives. It's a simple verb which requires a complex action. But trusting God requires nothing from us, only ourselves. Some people trust in their wealth, fame, power. All of it will perish. Nothing is permanent. So better trust to the One who gave everything. Dahil minsan dumarating talaga ang panahon ng kawalan, financially or spiritually. And so there is God. Let's put our trust on Him, let's boast for Him. Dahil walang mawawala sa atin kung ipagkakatiwala natin ang buhay natin sa Kanya.

Popstar Sarah Geronimo

Sarah Asher Geronimo was born on July 25, 1988 to Father Delfin Geronimo, a retired PLDT employee, and mother Divina, who used to run a beauty parlor in their house at Sta. Cruz, Manila. Sarah is the third of four children with siblings Johna Rizzie, Sunshine Grace, and Ezekiel Gabriel.

Sarah's first music lessons came from her father. He would have her practice everyday to develop her singing prowess. Sarah first sang on stage at age two at a mall show. Sarah sang "Pasko Na Naman" with Pinky Marquez and Richard Reynoso. At four years old, mother Divina would accompany her to auditions for different TV programs. Sarah became part of kiddie shows Pen-pen de Sarapen (4-6 years old), Ang TV (7-8 years old), and NEXT (8-9 years old). In between auditions, Sarah would perform at shopping malls and hotel lounges. She was one of the performers during the 1995 visit of Pope John Paul II. Sarah at an early age joined hosts of different singing contests the first of which was Tuklas Talino sponsored by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT).

Star For A Night hosted by Ms.Regine Velasquez was arguably the singing contest that catapulted Sarah to stardom. On March 1, 2003, at age fourteen Sarah emerged as the grand prize winner of the said singing competition with her rendition of the song "To Love You More." She won P 1 million and a managerial contract at Viva Artist Agency. The prize money was spent on tuition fees and the operation of her eldest sister.

Sarah inspired many aspiring singers. She is now a coach of 'The Voice Philippines.' She stayed humble despite of all the success. She is currently in a relationship with actor Matteo Guidicelli.

Sparing our Enemies

Scripture: 1 Samuel 24:1-22

When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me today.

What will you do when someone tries to kill you? Or what would you do when one of your loved ones was killed and you saw it? Revenge di ba? Or siguro you would do the same two times the hurt. So painful talaga. But David demonstrated opposite reaction. I mean everyone is doing revenge, why can't he? It sounds absurd. David saved Saul's life in spite of everything. Nagpakumbaba siya and he was reminded by God.

If we don't have God in our lives maybe maraming decisions sa buhay natin that we were dead physically and spiritually. God directs our thoughts and minds. Ayaw niyag mapahamak tayo. Kaya, enemies, beware. God is in control pa rin. Pray for them and do the other way and they'll see the good ness of God.

Rick Warren Tells Story of Son's Suicide

Rick Warren, a famous writer, preacher, evangelist shares his story about his son's suicide. Here is an interview by CNN:

"I have cried every single day since Matthew died," the megachurch pastor said on CNN Tuesday night. "But that's actually a good thing. Grief is a good thing. It's the way we get through the transitions of life."

He choked up on camera, too. His wife, Kay Warren, wiped tears from his cheek as they talked about the five months since their 27-year-old son, who had borderline personality disorder, shot himself with a gun he bought illegally online. Matthew's death, they said, came after years of threatening suicide and even asking his father, "Why can't I just die?"

The Warrens combined personal moments from their story—Kay hugging her son's body as the coroner took it away, Rick reading sympathy letters from people who Matthew had led to Christ—with their advocacy for a more robust response to mental illness and their continued hope in God. Christian leaders and viewers tweeted along to the hour-long conversation; their hashtag, #WarrensOnCNN, trended into this morning.

The author of The Purpose-Driven Life, Rick repeated that there's a purpose to their pain, affirming his belief in God even after "the day that I prayed would never happen happened." He said:

I never questioned my faith in God. I questioned God's plan. There's a big difference. I know God is a good God. … But not everything that happens in the world is God's will. Everything that happens in the world God allows, he permits, because it couldn't happen without his permission. But we live in a world where there are free choices, so if I choose to do wrong, I can't blame God for that. So God isn't to blame for my son's death. My son took his own life. It was his choice.

The Warrens told Morgan their son was not afraid to die and is now in heaven. "Matthew's body was broken. That gun broke his body, and he was buried in brokenness. But he's going to be raised in glory," Kay said, referencing 1 Corinthians 15:43 (NLV).

The interview aired hours after LifeWay Research reported that nearly half of evangelical, fundamentalist, or born-again Christians (48%) believe that people with serious mental illness can overcome their condition through prayer and Bible study alone.

Even as evangelical leaders like the Warrens and former Southern Baptist Convention president Frank Page (who lost a daughter to suicide) publicly share their stories, mental illness continues to be seen as a spiritual deficiency or character flaw by some Christians. Researchers also found that 54 percent of Americans said churches should do more to prevent suicide, and 68 percent said they would feel welcome in church if they were mentally ill.

When he returned to the pulpit at Saddleback Church six weeks ago, Rick Warren launched a sermon series on grief and a campaign to help churches address mental illness. "There's no shame when any other organ in your body fails, so why do we feel shame if our brain is broken?" he asked.

GLORIA: Hoy, hoy, hoy. Anong anak, anak diyan! Batang-bata pa si Nene kaya wag nyo na muna yan pag-usapan! Mga tsismosang to.

Nagsialisan ang mga nag-uusap usap.

NENE: Nay, mano po.
PEDRO: Nay, mano po.
GLORIA: Anong NAY! Kayo ha! Umayos kayo, kayo na lang lagi ang pinag-uusapan ng kapit-bahay natin.
PEDRO: Hayaan nyo po sila basta ang importante nagmamahalan po kami.
GLORIA: Nagmamahal!
PEDRO: Aling Gloria, ipapaalam ko po sana si Nene.

PEDRO: Mahal ako na,akin na si Salvacion, matulog ka na mahal. Lalalalala... tulog na baby, tulog na.

Paulit-ulit itong pinatahan sa kakaiyak si Salvacion hanggang mag alas 12 na ng hating gabi. Nagising si Pedro upang ihiga si baby ngunit pagkalipas ng 10 minuto umiyak na naman ito.

PEDRO: Baby, gutom ka na? Sige wait lang ha, magtitimpla si tatay ng gatas sa mahal kong baby.

NENE: Salvacion kain ka na anak. Halika subuan ka ni nanay.

NENE: Opps, opps... Pedro, ikaw ha tinuturuan mo pa ang anak natin.
PEDRO: Mahal, ayaw ko lang nagpapatalo siya.

SALVACION: May crush na po ako, ang gwapo niya Nay grabe.

Kinagabihan, hindi mapakali si Salvacion. Iniisip niya yung sinabi ng kanyang kaibigan.

GIRL 1: Oo, pwede siya, pero kailangan sumama ka muna sa amin.
SALVACION: OO, naman, sige.
GIRL 1: Mamayang gabi, punta ka sa kantong yun.
GIRL 2: Kailangan saktong alas 7.
GIRL: At dapat wag na wag kang ma late.
